An anti-epileptic medication has been found to inhibit the formation of tumours in the neurological system in mice.

The development of tumours on nerves throughout the body is a hallmark of neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1). According to a new study, neurons with the NF1 mutation are hyperexcitable. Furthermore, they discovered that controlling hyperactivity in mice with the epilepsy drug lamotrigine decreases tumour growth.
