As a result of global warming, the Arctic is seeing a major temperature rise. From this, the treeline of Siberian larch forests is slowly migrating north, displacing huge swaths of tundra that support a diverse range of plant and animal species. Experts have now created a computer simulation that shows the only way to assure that around 30% of the Siberian tundra survives until the millennium's middle is to deploy long-term, climate-protection measures.
