watching tv

More than one out of every ten cases of coronary heart disease could be avoided by limiting TV viewing to less than one hour every day.

Excessive television viewing has been linked to an increased risk of coronary heart disease, according to study, and this link exists regardless of an individual’s genetic makeup.

If people watched less than an hour of television every day, they may avert 11% of coronary heart disease cases, according to the study, assuming there is a direct link between the two.

video games

Children’s IQ was found to be boosted through video games but not TV or Social Media.

Researchers at Karolinska Institutet looked into the link between how much time young people spend in front of screens and their cognitive development over time.

Children who played video games more frequently than the average child increased their intelligence more frequently, while children who watched television or used social media had no effect on their IQ. The research was published in the scientific journal Scientific Reports.
